Mayor Matheny Attempts to Boot Planning Commission

Controversy has engulfed the Coffee County government and the administration of County Mayor Judd Matheny. In an effort to remove five members of the Coffee County Planning Commission, possibly illegally, Mayor Matheny has unilaterally sent letters of termination to Carole Willis, Randy Harrel, Dennis Hunt, Paul Elam, and Chairman Steve Cunningham. Per Thunder Radio:

Many of these members of the Planning Commission were instrumental in our fight against the proposed quarry and the eventual defeat of the Q-1 rezoning effort.

And finally, the online publication Patriot Punk Network is speculating that the reasoning may be to bring a landfill to Coffee Count. At this time there is no proposal for a landfill, and Matheny is denying that this is part of his plan.

About Us

Save Coffee County TN is a grassroots-driven campaign orginally created to oppose to the proposed Special Quarrying District (Q-1). We are an all-volunteer group of neighbors banding together to protect our families, our communities, and the beautiful countryside of Coffee County from any destructive industry wishing to invade our community and destroy our way of life. Since the defeat of the Q-1 Special Quarrying District, we have continued to stay active in Coffee County politics to stay informed about any potential changes that could endanger our friends and neighbors. We are simply citizens of Coffee County, friends and neighbors, who have come together to ensure that Coffee County continues to grow in a way that is beneficial to everyone in the county, not just special interest groups.

We have no affiliations with any businesses or organizations other than the citizens of this county, of which we are also.

Join us in protecting our families and the beautiful countryside that is Coffee County!

This is God's country!

We can't let this change!

Our Mission

Educating our communities on preservation of natural resources; developing legislation and common-sense regulations to protect the air, water, and other environmental assets of Coffee County; and conducting research into the hazards of limestone quarries, mines, concrete batch plants, and other aggregate operations (APOs).

We simply want to preserve and protect the land, water, air, wildlife, unique features, and quality of life in Coffee County from the aggressive and insufficiently regulated expansion of the aggregate industry and other industries that profit only themselves.
